The Department of Community Investment is dedicated to enhancing South Bend's economic and social landscape. Organized into eight collaborative teams—Building, Neighborhoods Division, Planning & Community Resources, Engagement and Economic Empowerment, Growth and Opportunity, South Bend Resources for Homelessness, and Sustainability—the department offers services such as business licensing, eviction defense programs, business zoning requirements, taxi cab licensing and inspections, and management of city-owned electric vehicle charging stations. Their mission is to attract and retain growing businesses, plan for vibrant neighborhoods, and connect residents to economic opportunities, thereby fostering a thriving community.
