About Missoula Public Library

The Missoula Public Library, established in 1894, serves as a central hub for the community, offering a wide range of resources and services. The library's main facility, built in 1974, has been expanded to accommodate the growing needs of Missoula County's population. In 2020, a new 106,000 square foot building was completed, providing modern amenities such as a café, retail store, makerspace, sound booths, and a demonstration kitchen. The library also houses community organizations like MCAT Public Radio, Families First Learning Lab, and the University of Montana's SpectrUM Discovery Area. In 2022, the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions named it the 'Public Library of the Year.'
