About DPL Foundation

We believe literacy creates pathways to opportunity, fueling education, economic mobility, and lifelong growth. Strong communities are built when people have access to the knowledge, support, and resources they need to learn, connect, and succeed. Since 1943, our mission has been to expand access to learning and essential resources across Detroit. We invest in programs, partnerships, and innovative ideas that respond to the evolving needs of the communities we serve, supporting people at every stage of life. Fiscal sponsorship is a core part of how we advance our mission and invest in community driven change. By providing financial oversight and operational support, we help partners focus on their work while building long term sustainability. This approach creates space for new ideas to grow and expands impact across Detroit. By collaborating with educators, families, neighborhood organizations, and local partners, we are advancing literacy, expanding opportunity, and helping communities shape solutions that create lasting change.
