About Albany Diocesan Cemeteries
We have three offices and a total of 45 staff members. Our field team is unionized. All but four of our cemeteries have been transferred to us after being managed by parishes throughout the region. They typically transfer with inadequate funding and record keeping, given that most are managed by volunteers or business office staff with little or no experience in cemetery regulations. Most of our records are in hard copy (index cards called 'lot cards') and paper deeds. Our operations platform/database was built in 1986 and is woefully inadequate by today's standards. We have a lean staffing model, with only 22 field team members to perform burials and maintain grounds.
